Youth Development
A Winning Hand

How does Youth Development: A Winning Hand differ from other options for Youth Development training? It is in both the presentation and the experience of the presenter. Drawing from a wide range of resources, Youth Development concepts are presented in an easy-to-grasp package using 'anchoring' techniques that aid in learning and retention. Additionally, the presenter's 30+ years of experience, including direct service experience utilizing the approach, assures a solid base of knowledge for responding to questions and addressing application challenges.

Youth Development: A Winning Hand is also available as a two-day presentation, allowing for greater learning and practice. The two-day version follows the same recommended schedule, covering the 'morning' content on day 1, and the 'afternoon' content on day 2

For both the single and two-day versions, start/end times are negotiable. One hour is recommended for lunch, though it may be negotiated between 30 & 90 minutes. The total per day time commitment (assuming 1 hour lunch) is 7 hours, with 6 hours presentation time.

Additional Information:

Materials, exercise props, and handouts are provided. Client is responsible for providing meeting space large enough for both large group and small group breakouts; coffee, water, etc., and/or other break refreshments (as you wish); and a presentation easel, chart pack (paper) and markers. PowerPoint is available if a screen is provided.

The recommended audience size is 30 to 60. Less than 30 can be accommodated, but there is greater impact from audience interactivity if there are at least 30 people in attendance. 60 is the recommended maximum, as the interactive exercises suffer with greater numbers. The presenter will be prepared with enough materials (handouts, etc.) to accommodate no more than 60 people.

As a goal of the presentation is to influence organizational change, it is recommended that the audience include directors, department heads, and/or other positions with the authority to implement new approaches. Youth participants, whether they are staff or clients, are always welcome, though the presentation is designed for adult learners. Please feel free to contact me with questions
